Protocol For Sympathy Flowers

A box arrangement of Snap Dragon, Singapore Orchids, Casablanca Lilies and Freesias.

This arrangement was made up today for a bereavement.

I get asked all the time about the protocol for sympathy flowers and I have to say there isn’t any. If the person is old fashion I would say stick with pastel colourings, otherwise bright flowers are refreshing; all white is stylish. It is the same with all occasions, you have to think of the person receiving the flowers and what they would like. Do not assume just because a person is elderly they are old fashion I have made that mistake before; think about the colours in their home, what they wear and the gifts/flowers (if any) they give you. As much as we try not to do it everyone is guilty of buying a present because it appeals to them!

Think out side the box, especially on occasions where there will be a lot of flowers; standing out is half the battle.
